A pixel-art town, built to exist in alongside anyone else who shows up. Grow, build, play, thrive.
A digital third-space
The Commons is a free multiplayer game set in a coastal town. No download, no card details. Pick a name and walk in.
It's being built by one guy, so progress is slow but ongoing.

What's there today
Things to do in town
Hang out
Wander the town, the docks and the garden, and chat with whoever else is about.
Play the arcade
Challenge someone to Zap, or beat your own score on the cabinets. Win tickets as you go.
Collect silly hats
Spend your tickets in the hat shop. Never real money: tickets are only ever earned.
Draw something
Paint on the easel at the docks. The best get put up around town.
A home of your own
Every saved account gets a house. Furniture and decorating are on the way.
For parents and carers
Built to be safe first
Moderation, reporting and parents' controls were built before the crowd arrived, not after.
How we keep it safeReal moderators
A person reads every report.
Always a report button
On every screen, even for someone who has already left.
You decide, for under 13s
They need your approval, and start with set phrases in place of free chat.
Nothing to sell them
No ads, no shop that takes money, no pressure.
The town so far
Counts only, straight from the game. Nobody is named.
I miss the internet that wasn't trying to sell me something.
The Commons exists to bring that back. Somewhere open and free, where safety is the baseline rather than a feature, and where nobody's trying to extract money from the people who show up.
